Wednssday -- boat ride to Monhegan Island

Today we had tickets to take the ferry from Port Clyde to Mohegan Island, about 1 hour.

While vetting on the boat, Bill saw someone he knew -- Kelly OBrian.  You just never know who you'll see.  Kelly worked for Extension several years ago and now works cor tbe Chesapeake Foundation in Harrisburg.

Lenny slept most of the way on the boat ride while Bill and I took in the sights.

The island was beautiful. Little shops and lots of hiking trails.  We set off on a trail that took us around one side of the island elongate coast.  Gorgeous Rocky coast with blue sea water.  There was a breeze blowing most of the way, otherwise it would have really been hot. After eating some food, we went into some of the shops.  Dogs were allowed in the one store so Lenny went in and played with Millie, a golden. The made quite a spectacle.  Everyone was talking about the little dog taking the big dog.  We think the golden just wanted a friend so she would do whatever Lenny wanted.

We took another hike around lobster cove before we had to board the boat back to Port Clyde. With two tired people one dog.

Great day.

Tuesday- more lighthouse

In my quest to find more lighthouses, we found one on Indian Island. We could just barely make it out because it was too  far away to see it very well (we're still counting it though) .  The next lighthouse was hard to find in Rockport.  We had to ask a local for directions.  Once we found it, it was worth it.  Very picturesque.

Next Bill wanted to check out a hike up Battle Mountain.  Although it was only a half mile hike, it was straight up and VERY Rocky.  We didn't let that stop us, away we all went, even Lenny .  Shannon.and.Carl would have been proud of Lenny traversing those huge boulders.  A couple of times he made the wrong decision.the way to go and he rolled down a couple boulders. But he learned and made it the whole way up to the top and back down without mishap.

By now it was time to eat so keeping with Maine file's we had lobster stew and crabcakes.
